This is a charming vintage sterling silver pin by the world-famous Mixtec artist Federico Jimenez, purchased directly from the artist himself. The pin features a whimsical butterfly motif brought to life with four teardrop-shaped natural turquoise stones forming the wings, a larger teardrop for the body and two smaller cabochons set as eyes. Each stone is individually bezel set, while delicate twist wire detailing enhances the body and antennae, adding texture and dimension. A wonderful balance of folk charm and fine craftsmanship, this piece is stamped on the reverse with Federico’s hallmark and STERLING. A delightful example of Federico’s iconic style, this pin makes a bold and beautiful statement.
Condition Note: the upper right teardrop stone has a rough spot which is a little less than 0.25" in diameter.
