Beautiful vintage 1992 Palekh hand-painted lacquer box, titled The Slipper (Башмачка), signed by artist Krasnov.
This is a scalloped, hinged papier-mâché box with a rich black lacquer exterior and the traditional red lacquer interior.
The artwork features a classic Russian fairy-tale scene with ornate gold embellishment and finely detailed miniature brushwork typical of the Palekh school.
Signed and titled in gold script. Date 1992 appears along the lower left border of the scene.
