Four dolls, wrapped in a textile fragment. Representation and contemporary Peruvian piece made using textile fragments. They are modern dolls but try to imitate Pre-Columbian Chancay dolls. Doll making was a practice along the central coast of Peru 1000 years ago by the Chancay Culture. These type of dolls were found in tombs and is believed that were placed either as a as funerary offerings, fertility amulets, toys or possessions from life that were buried with their owners. Nowadays these dolls are style of folk art with ancient roots, and can be placed in your wall, carried along your personal belongings (handbag, purse) or placed under your pillow as a Fertility amulet.
